This podcast isn’t specifically designed for learners, but is a favourite amongst advanced learners. Created by Peruvian writer Daniel Alarcón, it launched in 2012, and has featured on American radio network NPR since 2016.
The podcast is a combination of storytelling and investigative journalism, and focusses on important themes such as human rights, immigration, political and socioeconomic crises, gender identity and mental health.
Not being designed for learners, it features real Spanish, spoken at a native pace, giving you an extra challenge.
While the podcast didn’t start as a way for learners to practice Spanish, the creators soon realised how popular it was with Spanish learners. They have since developed Jiveworld Español, which allows you to read the full text of their podcast as it plays, with questions and vocabulary drills to add an extra challenge as you listen along.
