Agregar conjugation

Agregar conjugation - to add

Table of Contents

Agregar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to add, collect, aggregate”.

Below are all of the conjugations for agregar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Agregar Infinitive

English Infinitive to add, collect, aggregate
Spanish Infinitive agregar

Agregar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está agregando) and past continuous (estaba agregando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. adding).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he agregado and hubiera agregado. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have added).

Gerundio / Gerund  agregando
Participio / Past Participle  agregado

Agregar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Agregar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I add” or “they add”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo agrego
agregas
Él / Ella / Usted agrega
Nosotros / as agregamos
Vosotros / as agregáis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes agregan
Vos agregás

Agregar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I added” or “she added” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo agregué I added
agregaste You added
Él / Ella / Usted agregó He / she / you added
Nosotros / as agregamos We added
Vosotros / as agregasteis You added
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes agregaron They / you added
Vos agregaste You added

Agregar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was adding” or “she was adding” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo agregaba I was adding
agregabas You were adding
Él / Ella / Usted agregaba He was / she was / you were adding
Nosotros / as agregábamos We were adding
Vosotros / as agregabais You were adding
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes agregaban They / you were adding
Vos agregabas You were adding

Agregar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have added” and “she has added”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he agregado I have added
has agregado You have added
Él / Ella / Usted ha agregado He has / she has / you have added
Nosotros / as hemos agregado We have added
Vosotros / as habéis agregado You have added
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han agregado They / you have added
Vos has agregado You have added

Agregar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would add” or “she would add”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Pronoun Spanish Englush
Yo agregaría I would add
agregarías You would add
Él / Ella / Usted agregaría He / she / you would add
Nosotros / as agregaríamos We would add
Vosotros / as agregaríais You would add

Agregar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will add” or “they will add”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a agregar” means “They are going to add”.

Yo agregaré I will add
agregarás You will add
Él / Ella / Usted agregará He / she / you will add
