Facilitar conjugation

Facilitar conjugation - to facilitate

Table of Contents

Facilitar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to facilitate, expedite”.

Below are all of the conjugations for facilitar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Facilitar Infinitive

English Infinitive to facilitate, expedite
Spanish Infinitive facilitar

Facilitar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está facilitando) and past continuous (estaba facilitando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. facilitated).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he facilitated and hubiera facilitated. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have facilitating).

Gerundio / Gerund  facilitando
Participio / Past Participle  facilitated

Facilitar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Facilitar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I facilitate” or “they facilitate”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo facilito
facilitas
Él / Ella / Usted facilita
Nosotros / as facilitamos
Vosotros / as facilitáis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes facilitan
Vos facilitás

Facilitar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I facilitate” or “she facilitate” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

facilitaste You facilitate
Él / Ella / Usted facilitó He / she / you facilitate
Nosotros / as facilitamos We facilitate
Vosotros / as facilitasteis You facilitate
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes facilitaron They / you facilitate
Vos facilitaste You facilitate

Facilitar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was facilitated” or “she was facilitated” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo facilitaba I was facilitated
facilitabas You were facilitated
Él / Ella / Usted facilitaba He was / she was / you were facilitated
Nosotros / as facilitábamos We were facilitated
Vosotros / as facilitabais You were facilitated
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes facilitaban They / you were facilitated

Facilitar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have facilitating” and “she has facilitating”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he facilitated I have facilitating
has facilitated You have facilitating
Él / Ella / Usted ha facilitated He has / she has / you have facilitating
Nosotros / as hemos facilitated We have facilitating
Vosotros / as habéis facilitated You have facilitating
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han facilitated They / you have facilitating
Vos has facilitated You have facilitating

Facilitar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would facilitate” or “she would facilitate”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Facilitar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will facilitate” or “they will facilitate”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a facilitar” means “They are going to facilitate”.
