Intersectar conjugation

Table of Contents

Intersectar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to intersect, meet, cross”.

Below are all of the conjugations for intersectar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Intersectar Infinitive

English Infinitive to intersect, meet, cross
Spanish Infinitive intersectar

Intersectar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está intersectando) and past continuous (estaba intersectando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. intersecting).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he intersectado and hubiera intersectado. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have intersected).

Gerundio / Gerund  intersectando
Participio / Past Participle  intersectado

Intersectar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Intersectar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I intersect” or “they intersect”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo intersecto
intersectas
Él / Ella / Usted intersecta
Nosotros / as intersectamos
Vosotros / as intersectáis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes intersectan
Vos intersectás

Intersectar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I intersected” or “she intersected” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo intersecté I intersected
intersectaste You intersected
Él / Ella / Usted intersectó He / she / you intersected
Nosotros / as intersectamos We intersected
Vosotros / as intersectasteis You intersected
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes intersectaron They / you intersected
Vos intersectaste You intersected

Intersectar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was intersecting” or “she was intersecting” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo intersectaba I was intersecting
intersectabas You were intersecting
Él / Ella / Usted intersectaba He was / she was / you were intersecting
Nosotros / as intersectábamos We were intersecting
Vosotros / as intersectabais You were intersecting
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes intersectaban They / you were intersecting
Vos intersectabas You were intersecting

Intersectar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have intersected” and “she has intersected”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he intersectado I have intersected
has intersectado You have intersected
Él / Ella / Usted ha intersectado He has / she has / you have intersected
Nosotros / as hemos intersectado We have intersected
Vosotros / as habéis intersectado You have intersected
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han intersectado They / you have intersected
Vos has intersectado You have intersected

Intersectar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would intersect” or “she would intersect”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Pronoun Spanish Englush
Yo intersectaría I would intersect
intersectarías You would intersect
Él / Ella / Usted intersectaría He / she / you would intersect
Nosotros / as intersectaríamos We would intersect
Vosotros / as intersectaríais You would intersect

Intersectar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will intersect” or “they will intersect”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a intersectar” means “They are going to intersect”.

Yo intersectaré I will intersect
intersectarás You will intersect
