Jerarquizar conjugation

Table of Contents

Jerarquizar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to arrange hierarchically”.

Below are all of the conjugations for jerarquizar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Jerarquizar Infinitive

English Infinitive to arrange hierarchically
Spanish Infinitive jerarquizar

Jerarquizar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está jerarquizando) and past continuous (estaba jerarquizando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. arranging in a hierarchy).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he jerarquizado and hubiera jerarquizado. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have arranged in a hierarchy).

Gerundio / Gerund  jerarquizando
Participio / Past Participle  jerarquizado

Jerarquizar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Jerarquizar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I arrange in a hierarchy” or “they arrange in a hierarchy”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo jerarquizo
jerarquizas
Él / Ella / Usted jerarquiza
Nosotros / as jerarquizamos
Vosotros / as jerarquizáis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes jerarquizan
Vos jerarquizás

Jerarquizar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I arranged in a hierarchy” or “she arranged in a hierarchy” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo jerarquicé I arranged in a hierarchy
jerarquizaste You arranged in a hierarchy
Él / Ella / Usted jerarquizó He / she / you arranged in a hierarchy
Nosotros / as jerarquizamos We arranged in a hierarchy
Vosotros / as jerarquizasteis You arranged in a hierarchy
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes jerarquizaron They / you arranged in a hierarchy
Vos jerarquizaste You arranged in a hierarchy

Jerarquizar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was arranging in a hierarchy” or “she was arranging in a hierarchy” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo jerarquizaba I was arranging in a hierarchy
jerarquizabas You were arranging in a hierarchy
Él / Ella / Usted jerarquizaba He was / she was / you were arranging in a hierarchy
Nosotros / as jerarquizábamos We were arranging in a hierarchy
Vosotros / as jerarquizabais You were arranging in a hierarchy
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes jerarquizaban They / you were arranging in a hierarchy
Vos jerarquizabas You were arranging in a hierarchy

Jerarquizar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have arranged in a hierarchy” and “she has arranged in a hierarchy”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he jerarquizado I have arranged in a hierarchy
has jerarquizado You have arranged in a hierarchy
Él / Ella / Usted ha jerarquizado He has / she has / you have arranged in a hierarchy

Jerarquizar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would arrange in a hierarchy” or “she would arrange in a hierarchy”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Pronoun Spanish Englush

Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes jerarquizarían They / you would arrange in a hierarchy

Jerarquizar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will arrange in a hierarchy” or “they will arrange in a hierarchy”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a jerarquizar” means “They are going to arrange in a hierarchy”.
